Boy
Scout Troop 52 is nearly 100 years old, yet
we're as young as the newest 11 year-old boy who
joins us in the spring. Besides the traditional
Scout ideals, our
program
emphasizes:
- Adventure
- Leadership
Development
- Service
- Monthly
camping trips and hikes and other outdoor activities
- Service
projects
- Week
of camping at Camp Mattatuck in August
- And
FUN!
Since 1983 our
High Adventure Program for high school age Scouts has
challenged
our boys. Past trips have included:
- Rugged hiking the highest
peaks in New
England and the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico and Colorado.
- Canoeing in the Adirondack
Region of New York
and the Maine wilderness.
- Sailing off the coast of
Rhode Island and
Massachusetts
- Hiking, Cycling and Sea
Kayaking at Acadia
National Park
- Cross Country Skiing in the
White Mountains
of New Hampshire.
Our 6-year Plan is as
follows:
2011-
Hiking the Presidential Range, White Mountains NH... July 13-17 Mizpah
Springs Hut, Lakes of the Clouds Hut, Madison Spring Hut.
2012-
Sailing –Florida Scout National Sea Base, Abacos- Bahamas-
Crew a
Sailboat while living on board.
2013-
Cycling- New Hampshire to Canada - with some side programs 1 week.
2014-
Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico...10 days of Backpacking the high
country.
2015-
Alagash River Canoeing, Maine....a week of wilderness canoeing and
camping.
2016-
Acadia National Park, Maine...Hiking, sea kayaking and cycling.
